To get the most out of playing NEOGEO games on the Kawaks (or WinKawaks) emulator, you need to ensure your files are organized correctly and that you have the essential BIOS files. Essential Setup Requirements
The NEOGEO BIOS: You must have a file named neogeo.zip. This contains the necessary system data to run any game on this platform.
ROM File Placement: Place your game ROMs (and the neogeo.zip BIOS) directly into the ROMs/neogeo folder within your Kawaks directory.
Keep Files Zipped: Do not extract or rename the ROM zip files. Kawaks identifies games by their specific filenames. Loading and Configuring Games
Scanning for Games: Open Kawaks and go to File > Load game. Click Scan for new to let the emulator detect your recently added ROMs.
Controller Setup: Go to the Game menu and select Redefine keys for Player 1. You can map your keyboard or a USB controller here.
