Community “updated” mods — Some players mod Alpha 1.2.6 to run on modern OS, fix sound, or increase render distance. These are not official and usually called "Alpha 1.2.6 patched" or "AlphaRevived".
What you might actually want:
- Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 – similar old-school feel but more stable.
- Minecraft Alpha 1.2.6 with the AlphaPlus mod (adds QOL fixes without changing gameplay).
