Since I cannot directly browse the internet, enter your account credentials, or download files to your computer, I have created a Technical Report Template that simulates the process of downloading the Chief Architect Core Catalog.

2. System Requirements & Prerequisites

Part 4: Manual Download (For Slow Internet or Large Office Deployments)
Sometimes the in-app download fails due to timeouts. Here is how to download the file manually using a browser.
- Log in to the Chief Architect Customer Portal (accounts.chiefarchitect.com).
- Go to Downloads & License Information.
- Select Bonus Libraries.
- Find the Core Catalog (Often listed as "Chief Architect X## Core Library").
- Download the
.calibzor.calibfile to your Desktop. - To install: Simply double-click the file. Chief Architect will launch and import the library.
What is the Core Catalog?
The Core Catalog is the essential library within Chief Architect containing all default architectural objects, materials, textures, and symbols. Unlike user-generated or bonus libraries, the Core Catalog is required for the software to function correctly. It includes items such as basic cabinets, doors, windows, walls, roofs, foundations, and standard materials. Since I cannot directly browse the internet, enter
Method 1: Download via the In-Software Library (Easiest Method)
This is the recommended method because the software automatically places the files in the correct directory.
- Launch Chief Architect.
- Go to the top menu and click Library.
- Select Download Core Catalog (In older versions, this is labeled Get Additional Content).
- If prompted, log into your Chief Architect ID.
- You will see a list of available libraries. Look for the item labeled "Chief Architect Core Catalogs" (This may be several items: Core, Bonus, and Manufacturer).
- Check the box next to Core Catalog.
- Click Download.
- Wait for the download and installation to complete. Do not close the software during this process.
- Once finished, restart Chief Architect. Your library browser should now show "Core Catalog" at the top.
4. Update Regularly
Chief Architect releases incremental updates to the Core Catalog (usually every 3 months). Library Browser: View >
- Check for updates by going to Library > Manage Libraries > Check for Updates. Do not ignore these; they fix rendering bugs.
Can I download the Core Catalog for Home Designer?
Yes, but note that Home Designer uses a smaller subset. While the "Pro" version of Home Designer can use the Chief Core Catalog, the standard and Architectural versions cannot. Check your version limitations.
14. Useful short commands and locations (defaults)
- Library folder locations:
- Windows: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Chief Architect\Libraries (or check Preferences)
- macOS: /Users/Shared/Chief Architect Libraries or /Library/Application Support/Chief Architect/Libraries
- Library Browser: View > Library Browser
- Import: File > Import (use the appropriate import option for plan/cell files)
Troubleshooting: "Failed to Download Core Catalog"
